POSITION OVERVIEW: -

· Provide systems management support for the VG Middleware (J2EE Platforms) ST, QA and production environments
-
· Strong knowledge of J2EE Architecture, Weblogic Application server, Apache WebServer

· Provide support for Middleware related problems, including HTTP Servers, WebLogic Servers
-
· Identify and successfully troubleshoot problems. Work across EHS teams to ensure problems get resolved.

· Monitor infrastructure capacity. Provide capacity analysis and recommend J2EE, Database, and OS turning and upgrade recommendations
-
· Work with other teams to improve security, performance, backup strategies and administration.

· Identify repeatable tasks and automate them.

· Create and maintain technical documentation including startup and shutdown and maintenance procedures.

· Implement EHS middleware infrastructure standards and workflows for supported environments

· Perform related duties as required.

· Provides off-hours support for Middleware related issues.

· Develop relationships with QA and development organizations and establish application turnover procedures and process enhancements

· Provide architecture and configuration recommendations to ensure deployed environments are WebLogic best practice and J2EE compliant

· Provide technical assistance to agency users and other agency personnel throughout the Commonwealth on technical, professional and/or administrative matters.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (5 years mandatory minimum experience):
-
· WebLogic Administration
-
· J2EE development experience (understanding of J2EE Software Architecture) a plus.
-
· SOA development experience a plus.
-
· Clear understanding of the J2EE software architecture and standards (requirement) and how it relates to the various Middleware (J2EE) platforms and APIs.
-
· Strong shell scripting and unix utility scripting experience.
-
· Knowledge and/or experience in migrating software, and the deployed J2EE applications to a later version of WebLogic, preferably 10.x.
-
· Knowledge and experience in configuring proxy plug-ins for WebLogic.

· Knowledge and experience with application build software.

· Experience with J2EE enterprise (large) application support.

· Support of clustered environments.

· The ability to provide senior level implementation and administration of enterprise Java middleware environments with minimal supervision.

· Significant experience with following Enterprise Java application-server environments: WebLogic. Experience with Apache webserver

· The ability to administer front-end web servers, especially with regard to how they interoperate with the java containers * connectivity, load balancing, etc.

· Fluency in UNIX/Linux environments * the native commands, tools and utilities, including core utilities such as awk, sed, and shell scripting(requirement).

· A fundamental understanding of basic networking concepts, especially in the realm of TCP/IP and internetworking.

· Support various forms of testing * user testing, performance testing including load and stress testing, and regression testing.

· Designed processes for application code migrations and supported migrations for large scale applications.

· Experience with application benchmarking and analysis of JVM resource usage and system usage.

DURATION: 6 Months State Govt or Federal govt experience is a MUST Objectives:
• Review current data workflow of District Analysis Review Tool (DART) development to create a standardized system that could improve efficiency and simplify efforts in data management
•Determine best practices in creating interactive reports in Excel that could improve performances and simplify updating
•Re-build current DART tools to the new standards and practices (Districts, Schools, Staff/Finance, ELLs)
•Document best practices for DART development to make guidelines available to OPE OPR and other ESE staff for developing similar tools
•Train key staff members on using new system
Scope of work for consultant:
Review and design new data workflow of DART
•Review processes currently used, from data imports and manipulations in Access to exporting data into the final Excel tool for reporting
•Design new process that could store a wide array of data and manipulate data files for exporting, preferably in an automated way through macros, procedures, Access SQL or VBA.
•Design new process for updating reports in Excel
Design new database in Access
•Review existing database structure and data tables to standardize external data import from different file formats and structures
•Develop automated functions to create the data worksheets that actually live in the DART files, condensing them from bigger datasets/files as much as possible
